Terms of employment at Schiphol

Schiphol has so many great employment conditions that we can't possibly list them all on one page. Our collective labor agreement clearly outlines all the agreements: from a good pension plan to allowances for different work schedules, extra leave such as birth leave and adoption leave, mobility allowances, diversity hours, and many other smart arrangements that make your work and your life easier. The list goes on and on. But to keep things clear, we have listed five of our colleagues' favorites below. These are the benefits you will notice most in your daily life at Schiphol.

An individual choice budget, on top of your salary
At Schiphol, you will receive your own Sustainable Employability Budget (DIB): a personal budget (2% of your salary) that you can invest in your development, health, and financial fitness. This could include training courses, coaching, a gym membership, or pension contributions.
The great thing is: you decide how to use it. Would you like to take a course, focus more on your vitality, take paid leave, or seek advice about your pension or finances? With your DIB, you can choose what suits you best and stay in control of your career and energy balance.
An extra treat in December? That's up to you!

At Schiphol, you will receive a competitive monthly salary based on 36 hours, plus 8% holiday pay and a 13th month's salary. Both are added to your personal MyChoice budget. The great thing is that you decide when you want to be paid. Would you prefer a financial boost now, or all at once at the end of the year? You choose what suits your schedule, rhythm or goals.

Additional information about MyChoice
MyChoice also gives you the freedom to use part of your employment conditions in your own way: for extra days off, a payment, or an option that suits your life at that moment. This makes it easy to maintain your work-life balance.

In addition, your performance is reviewed every year. If you are doing well, your salary will grow with you. And if you have reached the top of your scale? Then, after two years of excellent performance, you can earn a bonus of 5% of your annual salary. You deliver value. Schiphol values that in a way that moves flexibly with you.

Continuous learning and development, with you at the center

At Schiphol, we believe that you make the difference. That is why we continuously support your growth in a way that suits your ambitions, pace, and career stage. Through the Schiphol Learning Hub, you can follow courses, training programs, and mandatory certifications at your convenience. In addition, you can further develop yourself with coaching, career guidance, and programs that help you grow both in breadth and depth. Whether you want to acquire new skills, move into a different role, or strengthen your balance and energy, you are at the center of our attention, and we give you every opportunity to continue learning, discovering, and developing.

From train to bicycle to car: you travel exactly how you want, and Schiphol Go takes care of the rest.

With Schiphol Go, you can always travel in the way that best suits your day. Whether you travel by train using your NS Business Card, prefer to cycle or come by car: you choose what works for you. You can easily register all your journeys in the Schiphol Go app, where they are automatically processed and reimbursed. This also applies to journeys by bicycle. Do you work from home? Then you will receive a home working allowance of €3 per day. This allows you to keep your commute flexible, sustainable and organised, every day.

Additional days off

With a 36-hour working week, you are entitled to 180 hours of holiday per year. Do you work more or less than that? Then your holiday hours will simply be adjusted to your working week. Do you need extra time off or do you have days left over? Then you can buy or sell holiday days, so that your free time always fits in with your life.

On top of that, you receive diversity hours: extra free hours that you can use for (public) holidays that are not normally paid. With a 36-hour working week, this amounts to 14.4 hours per year, and these hours also increase in line with your contract size. Perfect for tailoring your free time to what is important to you.
